AI-Powered Media Tagging
ATagger uses Grok vision AI to scan and tag every image and video in your collection. Search by content, not filename. Finally.
Image Tagger
Point ATagger at your photo library. It scans every image and tags it against a comprehensive category list — automatically, overnight.
Video Tagger
Video Tagger watches every video in your library and tags what it sees — scenes, content, context. Find any moment across thousands of files.

How It Works
Download the Mac or Windows app. Enter your licence key and your xAI API key. Both are saved locally — nothing leaves your machine.
Point ATagger at any folder. It scans recursively — every subfolder, every file. Pick your whole library or a specific directory.
Grok vision AI analyses each file and assigns tags from a comprehensive category list. Runs in parallel — 3 to 10 files at once.
Query your library by tag. Export to CSV, XMP sidecars, or embedded EXIF metadata. Works with Lightroom, digiKam, StashApp.
Features
Runs entirely on your machine. Images are sent only to xAI's API (your own key). No central server. No cloud storage. No data retention.
You pay xAI directly for API usage. ATagger doesn't mark up API costs. At typical library sizes, API cost is a few dollars total.
Process up to 10 files simultaneously. A library of 20,000 images typically completes overnight. Resumes automatically if interrupted.
100+ categories covering content type, style, subject, setting, and more. The same vocabulary across images and videos for unified search.
Tags export to CSV, XMP sidecar files, embedded EXIF/IPTC metadata, and plain text. Compatible with every major media management tool.
Native desktop app for both platforms. No browser, no subscription, no internet connection required after initial setup.
FAQ
xAI is the company behind the Grok AI model. You create an account at x.ai, add a payment method, and generate an API key. ATagger uses this key to send images to Grok for analysis. You are billed directly by xAI — ATagger does not take any cut. Typical cost for tagging a 20,000-image library is $3–8.
No. ATagger runs entirely on your machine. Each image or video frame is sent directly from your computer to xAI's API. Nothing passes through ATagger's servers. xAI processes the image and returns tags — the original file never leaves your machine.
Image Tagger supports JPG, JPEG, PNG, and WebP. Video Tagger supports MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, and most common video formats.
The tagging process requires an internet connection to reach the xAI API. The app itself, query, and export functions work fully offline. Your licence is cached locally for 7 days — no connection needed after the initial activation.
Each licence covers one person for personal use on their own machines. If you need a team or commercial licence, contact us.
Image Tagger processes still images (JPG, PNG, WebP). Video Tagger watches your video files and tags what the AI sees — content, scenes, context — giving you timestamped results you can use to find specific moments. Both use the same tag vocabulary so you can search across your entire library from one catalogue.
